My last blog entry was mid-July, and that is a sad state of affairs. My excuse for blog lapse: I picked up and went on a four-week tour around Central Asia for work at the end of July. I went to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and around Kyrgyzstan. I returned in late August and then spent a week recovering. In September I was on the road again. And here we are.
Moving back in time to catch up on big news, at the end of July Ryan and I moved to a house! We are now renting a large, two-story home at the edge of Osh. The place has a lovely enclosed garden, a garage, a second facility that goes unused but is good for storing things, and a "topjan," which is an elevated seating area mostly known to Asian cultures. The topjan has been utilized already for evening parties with friends, drinking Moldovan wine and playing Scrabble by candlelight. In earlier, summer months, Ryan and I would finish our coffee outside, and sometimes we still make a little desk and work out there. Here are some photos of the new digs. The snapshot of the outside topjan shows the kitten that came with the house. More on Miss Cat later. :)
Our new address is "Street Suyumbaev (ул. Cуйунбаева), House 15/2." Same zip code and all that, but we are no longer on Kurmanzhan Datka street or in the old building. It's been very nice to move into a place with privacy and room to move about. Ryan set up his PlayStation in the living room so we can watch movies in there, we have a large dining room which is great for early morning, sunny breakfasts, and we have a bigger office for me to work from home now. It's luxurious.
That's my entry for today. Starting back in slowly but surely. My goal is to post one entry each day to get back into the swing of things. Until tomorrow!
